(IX.The Wheel of Fortune-Tarot of Cosmic Consciousness)

This card is maybe one of the rarest ones that made me contradict myself over the correct path where it belongs. First I considered to be somewhere on an invisible path from Chesed to Yesod but it didn’t have enough strength and the card it has some sort of solar light that cannot be denied then I studied the Fr.Achad’s position on this card that it says: Kether-Chokhmah but again it didn’t seemed right so I went to the classical path:Chesed-Tiphareth.

Thoth Tarot by Aleister Crowley
Crowley titles this card Fortune and attributes it to the planet Jupiter (Book T calls it “The Wheel of Fate” and also attributes it to Jupiter). Jupiter is the planet of luck, expansion, abundance, and wisdom. Traits associated with Jupiter include optimism, cheerfulness, success, extravagance, and overconfidence. Crowley writes: “It would be narrow to think of Jupiter as¬†good¬†fortune; he represents the element of luck. The incalculable factor.”

A.E. Thierens, PhD. (Astrology & the Tarot)
Thierens associates The Wheel of Fortune, Trump 10, with the tenth sign of the zodiac: Capricorn (a cardinal Earth sign known for being disciplined, responsible, hard-working, ambitious, and determined — the sign associated with career and reputation). Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, planet of discipline, responsibility, restriction, and limitation. Thierens writes that The Wheel of Fortune “denotes the authorities to which the querent is subject, but also his own actions, deeds, manifestations and the position in the world which he occupies, his name and titles. . . It is the card of karma in the strict sense.”

The Whispering Tarot by Liz Hazel
This deck links The Wheel of Fortune with “Jupiter, the full moon (three days before and after), and the progressed full moon”.

First you must remember that many of the sages have different opinions whether this card should be governed by Jupiter(Aleister Crowley), Saturn(Phd.A.D.Thierens) and even Moon (Liz Hazel);if there is a Capricorn one or Aquarius. Now we all know that Jupiter is the planet of good fortune and also sudden changes, light on the path and knowledge. The Sun on the other hand is the bringer of life, both physical and spiritual being also considered the core essence of one’s being. It is His will in order for us to manifest or NOT into this world, he is like the spider creating the net, the other spheres might be some important points into the net but he is the spider, he is the central points for us, humans (that there are another spheres beyond our understanding that connect with each other that is a completely another story). Of course I am talking on a metaphorical level, so don’t think of a real giant spider.

Now the connection between the Sun and Jupiter it’s a very strong one on a spiritual level and the result is the game of fortune, again for us humans .Apparently this is not a bad aspect of them both mostly because the majority of the tarot readers seem to consider the card as a good omen not a bad one.
